Installation as part of solo exhibition, GLOBALWOOD at National Gallery of Macedonia, Skopje. Three car tops 1.2 x 1.5m. each, enamel paint. 2007

The ‘age of consumerism’ uses signs and symbols to establish a value system. We have witnessed how the visibility and presence of such signs/logos in has increased over the last decade. For example, in Prada’s collections since 2004, the Prada logo has been used extensively – often covering the entire surface of their handbags and other products.
Brands have became a status symbol which need to be ‘exhibited’ as a sign of personal success – a trend which has become widely accepted by the new class of businessmen within New Europe, Russia, the Middle East and other parts of the world.
In this installation, I have used three old car tops (found in a second-hand metal shop), onto which I have painted the letters B M W.
